A. Management and Scope
The Covenant of Fox Hollow, as defined here, applies to all residents, visitors, guests and citizens of the sims of Fox Hollow. Ignorance or failure to read this Covenant and applicable Roleplay regulation as published on is not an excuse for failure to abide by these regulations herein.

  1. Community Management reserves the right to amend, alter and otherwise modify this Covenant and other rules therein with or without appropriate notice to other parties in the community as deemed necessary.
  2. “Community Management” is hereby defined as the sim’s owner, Taissa Black (Shapeshifterr) and managers, moderators and other staff as officially appointed. An official, up to date staff list is located on the website or on our Discord.
  3. Blocking sim staff conducting official business is explicitly prohibited.
  4. This Covenant and rules herein reserve the authority to regulate, establish, decertify and moderate official “Fox Hollow” groups, as defined below. No individual or group may create a “Fox Hollow” official group without permission from Community Management. An official list of certified Groups follows:
  • .:Fox Hollow:.
  • Fox Hollow Roleplay Group
  • Jasper County Sheriff’s Office
  • Fox Hollow Fire Department
  • Fox Hollow Government
  • Magnolia Spring’s Medical Center
  • Foxwood Public School
  • Fox Hollow Garden Collective

B. General Community Regulations

  1. Within all Fox Hollow community locations, including, but not limited to, In-world sims, official groups as defined above, community Discord, websites, etcetera, visitors and citizens are expected to be courteous and respectful to others at all times. This includes asking others for Lindens, gifts, etc.
  2. Due to privacy regulations, staff is unable to generally administer private chats between two members. Use block functions instead. If the private chats are considered to violate community covenant, exceptions may be enacted.
  3. Any public chat, voice, etc posted in a public Fox Hollow channel, regardless of location, may be used by Community Management in the investigation of complaints, reports, etc.
Recruitment for other communities, including other Second Life Communities and other general communities, is not permitted in public chats without Management approval. Talking in private messages is not regulated, though simply going down user-lists to spam recruitment messages will not be tolerated.
  4. All issues should be escalated through the appropriate chain of command, i.e, to a Moderator first, then managers, then owners. Please do not immediately message community managers with an issue that can be resolved by a moderator.
Anyone within the regions of Fox Hollow is found to be caught poaching, i.e. representing another establishment by offering jobs, rentals, etc. that can result in a ban. If members of Fox Hollow are found to be caught going to other sims poaching members for Fox Hollow, that can also be banned. This is decided on a case by case basis.

C. Property Regulations

  1. Within the sims of Fox Hollow, various residential and commercial properties may be rented. The ability for individual users to rent these areas is a privilege, not a right, and it may be denied by Community Management as needed.
  2. Rent is subject to change based on sim prices and cost values, dependent on the deal made between fox hollow and the tenant.
  3. Community Management attempts to ensure individual rentals have their own “parcel” for privacy, however due to various factors this may not always be possible. If the property does not already have a parcel, generally, we will be unable to make one for you.
  4. “House Swapping”, aka swapping out the existing house or business for a custom model provided by a user, is generally allowed, but may be denied on a case-by-case basis for reasons such as extreme Land Impact, or not fitting the area. For example, a sprawling post-modern house would generally not be approved in Fpxwood as the historic side of town. Check with Community Management before buying any houses. No refunds will be offered if your custom building is denied. And a minimum of 3 weeks tier must be on the box for your rental.
  5. As a Roleplay community, ban orbs and the like are not permitted.
  6. All businesses are always IC and must contain some form of IC business.
  7. Houses are assumed IC without a sign specifically marking them as OOC areas. These homes cannot be used for passive OR active crime. If crime is being committed within the property and there is an OOC sign out front, the crime voids the OOC sign and the house can be considered IC.
  8. The Real Estate Management reserves rights to evict a resident if a home is deemed to be abandoned. Abandonment is defined as little to no furniture in home, lack of response from the renter and clearly abandoned state of property and or 5 days with no furniture and no use.
  9. Renters will not rez anything that will disrupt neighbors, such as loud music on non-parcelled land, obnoxious objects, etc. This will be handled IC if it is part of a roleplay.
  10. Properties may not contain military installations, police forces, brothels, extremist groups, and/or generally anything that would not fit in a rural North Carolina town in 2020, such as futuristic stores or sci-fi items. If you do not know if you’d fit in one of these categories, ask a manager before you buy.
  11. As a general rule, refunds will not be offered for property rentals. Individual cases may differ depending on the circumstance.

D. On-sim rules, generalized.

  1. All public areas on Fox Hollow Sims are explicitly considered In Character areas. Use of the Fox Hollow Observer/OOC tag will render an individual player OOC, however, this only counts if the user is not in a vehicle.
  2. Gesture spamming, emote spamming, incessant shouting and other disturbances will not be tolerated in public areas.
  3. Child Avatars are allowed on sim, provided they do not engage in adult content and do not enter adult areas (see below)
  4. Fox Hollow Community Sims have a “Moderate” tag. As a general rule, players must abide by the regulations set forth under this Moderate tag in Linden Lab’s rules and terms of service. Certain areas may individually be set to an “Adult” rating. Child avatars are not permitted in these areas.
  5. Voice Chat is disabled in all sims and only permitted on private parcels. Voice chat is not to be used to roleplay at any time and is not a requirement.
  6. Flying is not permitted by anyone except sim staff in the performance of their duties. This includes no flying with planes, helicopters, etc and should not be rezzed on sim unless by Public Service departments with permission from Department Heads/Management Staff.
  7. There is no set “limit” for rezzed items, or script useage. Staff will generally be lenient, however staff reserve the right to ask a user to stop if it becomes an issue. Further punishment may be indicated if the user either refuses to reply or is obviously griefing.
  8. County positions, such as Law Enforcement, Paramedics, Firefighters, Judges, etc, are decided by the respective group leaders as defined in Section 1.3. Individual players may not claim to be any of those groups falsely, or as military/federal personnel and other select groups, without management permission. Individuals who do this may be ICly interpreted as impersonating those groups.
    1. Exception to this rule are various off-sim “Mutual Aid” groups as called by the appropriate on-sim group.Out of Character chat should be kept to brackets during scenes ((OOC Text here))
  9. Playable intelligent characters may be either humans or anthros/furries.
  10. All Characters must have realistic dimensions and strengths. 12 foot tall superhumans will not be accepted.
  11. Anthros/Furries must have realistic dimensions, strengths, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities comparable to those of a human. Anthros/Furries must be based on a species currently on modern day Earth, though color variations are generally accepted. Half Furries are acceptable.
  12. Ferals are acceptable as non-speaking animals. Shapeshifters, fantasy creatures, magic users, vampires, etc are not permitted at this time.
  13. “Camming” other players consistently is not permitted, particularly on private land and in adult rated areas. Staff Members are exempt from this rule only in the performance of official duties.
  14. No HUDs that attack, bite or cause damage to other players in other systems unless its approved by staff. If this HUD is found to be causing disturbances, this will result in perma ban.
  15. Fox Hollow Sim Management reserves the right to use chat transcripts, that were sent in: local, IM’s Directly with Staff & Players or Staff & Staff for the use of investigation into issues reported to the sim management themselves, as a business we promise that these transcripts are not shared outside of Sim Management, and parties involved.

E. Roleplay Rules

  1. All Roleplay takes place within the context of Jasper County in the State of North Carolina within the contemporary United States in 2020. Character backstories, technology, etc should reflect this. Sci-fi, fantasy, and medieval character backstories (to name a few) will not be considered canon.
  2. Child Avatars, when used, should be played respectfully with mind that other players in the community may not want to deal with pestering children. Specific rules include:
    1. Child avatars should not be gesture spamming or being a general nuisance in public. This includes any gesture, even “roleplay” ones such as giggles, laughs, crying, etc. These draw players out of the immersion, is particularly annoying in crowds, and a simple /me can suffice.
    2. Child avatars should not be performing unrealistic actions for their age group. Toddlers should not realistically be surviving in the wilderness and babies should not be driving around public roads in toy cars. If you want to roam town and relax, please use a OOC tag and be courteous to others roleplay.
    3. Child avatars under RP age 13 should not be committing major crimes such as grand theft auto and arson without a very good reason and ideally staff permission. Common sense applies; Stealing your parents car at age 12 is reasonable, setting buildings on fire and lockpicking and stealing other people’s cars at age 8-12 not so much. Capitol crimes like attempted murder and murder should not be committed by any child avatar under age 16.
    4. Child injury, trauma, and death is a very touchy subject with most. Please ensure you have explicit permission from all involved (including first responders) before roleplaying injuring a young child in any substantial way, or involving them in grotesque or dramatic criminal RP such as interjecting a child avatar into a shootout.
    5. Child avatars under RP age 13 should not be out in public without some form of NPC or player guardian. Special events such as a child running away may be approved on a case-by-case basis by roleplay staff. The guardian if NPC’d should act in the best interest of the child and not let the child commit any crimes or questionable activities.
  3. Roleplay may be voided either by the consensual agreeance of all parties or by member(s) of sim staff.
  4. Metagaming, Powergaming, Godmodding, etc will not be tolerated. Consult a Staff Member for clarification on these basic roleplay guidelines if you need help!
  5. Taking In Character Attitudes Out of Character – People play characters. These characters may not always agree with other characters. Please keep in mind that characters actions against you do not and should not perpetrate any issues with you as a person, or out of character. Please do not direct such complaints to staff unless you suspect another rule is being broken. They should be handled in character.
  6. Real World Events: While based in the contemporary United States, we are aware that many come to SL for escapism from current real world events and tragedies. Most people on SL do not want to roleplay the current ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, for example. This is a touchy subject all around as it’s hard to roleplay a small town in the U.S without acknowledging these events, but we ask you be mindful that others may not want to roleplay them.
  7. Fox Hollow identifies as a “Heavy” roleplay sim, though we try to be open to all players and backgrounds. There is no set rule on what defines “Heavy” roleplay, however we do ask all players use proper punctuation, grammar, and spelling in roleplay. Emoji and smiley faces, for example, shouldn’t be used in RP scenes.
  8. Major events such as bank robberies, explosions, and fires on/in major public buildings such as the sheriff’s office, court house, hospital, etc require administrative permission before continuing to ensure an adequate response can happen.
  9. Both parties must consent, either through continued posts (implied consent) or direct consent to a roleplay. However, various public roleplays are expected to be finished, such as interactions with police, paramedics, etc. Refusing to continue a RP once it has been started due to not ending in a favorable outcome for a player may result in punishment.
