Overnight shooting in Jasper County leaves three hospitalized

JASPER COUNTY – A shooting in rural Jasper County last night left three people in hospital in varying degrees of conditions today. Police engaged in a prolonged shootout with a suspect identified as Mr. John Small, of Charlotte. Small has a outstanding warrant for second degree murder out of Mecklenburg County. Police have not stated what caused the shootout with the suspect, or exactly who is injured, but records indicate at least three people were transported to hospital. At least one out-of-county ambulance had to be called in for the incident. The suspect, Small, was shot multiple times by sheriff’s deputies when he seems to have shot two sheriff’s deputies himself.

Sheriff’s officials are refusing to comment anything beyond stating both deputies injured are in stable condition Wednesday.
