High-speed pursuit leads to crash in Juniper Mountain and injures deputy

JUNIPER MOUNTAIN – Police were again out in force in Juniper Mountain this Tuesday after a blue BMW led deputies on a high-speed pursuit. The BMW evaded five sheriff’s cruisers for over 10 minutes before the pursuit ended violently when the BMW ran a red light at the Bear Valley/Antler Pass tunnel, T-boning a unmarked sheriff’s cruiser. Both vehicles seem to have been traveling at high rates of speed.

Two people were evaluated by paramedic’s for injuries with the sheriff’s deputy driving the unmarked cruiser being transported by ambulance. The BMW had a dealer plate on it, but thus far it’s unclear what dealership the BMW was purchased (or stolen) from. The sheriff’s office has not yet released the name of the suspect or what he’s being charged with. The status of the injured deputy is unknown.

FOX11 news will update this story as more information becomes available.

I hope the deputy's okay. Always worrying to hear about a fellow emergency services person being injured!
